Opened in 1926 as a poor work farm in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Hillview Manor, then known as Lawrence County Home for the Aged, later became a skilled nursing facility until 2004. During that time, there were many deaths, including suicides. It is now highly active, but not with the living. Just 4 years later, it was already overcrowded and by 1968, 60 years after it opened, a local news report exposed rampant patient abuse and almost 10 years later, the facility finally shut down for good. Our haunted location this year was the Indiana State Sanatorium! Opened in 1908 and suddenly closed in 2011, originally was a tuberculosis sanatorium then later turned into a nursing home. It was JUST opened to the public for ghost hunts last year in 2021. It is VERY active as these spirits have somewhat laid 'dormant' for about 10 years.
