Madame Delphine LaLaurie had a sorted past from birth. But in 1834 when her massive mansion in New Orleans caught fire, the truth of her misdeeds finally came to light. Known around by some to be cruel to her slaves, if hearsay is true, that became an understatement when found beneath the smoke and ashes were slaves that had been tortured, abused, if still alive, or left to rot still chained even after death. Madame LaLaurie was never apprehended for her crimes, but her infamy lives on within the bowels of 1140 Royal Street where spirits of the damned can still be seen & heard. To catch the first ever televised paranormal investigation inside the mansion, watch Season 1, Episode 7 of "Portals to Hell."

Another real life true story meets Hollywood, tonight we discuss "The Haunting of Connecticut." The 2009 film fictionalizes the real life 1986 story of the Snedeker Family. After moving into a former funeral home in Connecticut to be closer to the hospital for their older son's cancer treatments, the Snedekers immediately started having horrifying paranormal experiences. They finally got Ed & Lorraine Warren involved and after an exorcism, the experiences stopped. The movie version takes on a slightly different version with seances, necromancy and dead bodies in the walls. Listen in tonight as we compare and contrast the real story to its movie counterpart.

In the middle of North Carolina on the aptly named "Devil's Tramping Ground Rd" sits a barren spot of land in the woods where supposedly no vegetation grows and no animals cross or stand. Over many decades the site has been rumored to be where the Devil himself angrily walks every night, where an Indigenous battle raged between two warring tribes or where a UFO landed and left in its wake a spot where so much radiation soaked into the soil, it forever remains tainted. Is it evil, alien energy or just a bunch of nosey trespassers? Tonight we discuss the history and folklore behind The Devil's Tramping Ground of Chatham County, NC.

Even though we're into January, this episode is a fan suggestion that we couldn't pass up. Tonight we review "It's A Wonderful Knife," a horror spin on the 1946 classic "It's a Wonderful Life." Starring Justin Long, Jane Widdop, Joel McHale and Katherine Isabelle, the movie centers around Winnie who within a year has lost her best friend on Christmas Eve to a psychotic killer that she later murders. When she wishes she never existed, she is transported to a parallel universe where the maniac is back and with the help of the town outcast, she must defeat him again and return to her own reality. As always, there are spoilers, so stream on Shudder if you haven't seen it yet, then enjoy the episode!

A 142 year old unsolved triple homicide in a small Kentucky town the day before Christmas. Listen in tonight for the true story that took place December 24, 1881 in Ashland, KY where siblings Fannie and Robert Gibbons along with family friend Emma Carico were bludgeoned to death and set ablaze after in a house fire. 3 men were hung for the crime after the many confessions, and retractions, of one of them. Were these 3 random men, with no real connections to the family, to blame or was this a random act of violence? That is one question that will remain unanswered.

Noted as the first slasher movie in the horror genre, 1974 "Black Christmas" (and its 2006 counterpart) was actually based on a true life real crime story about a 14 year old boy who bludgeoned his mother to death one month before Christmas. Its also a mix between the Babysitter/Killer in the House urban legend. Both are still a fan favorite this time of year and we hope you guys enjoy learning these facts about the films. Unrelated, we list some of our all time favorite Christmas songs. Happy spoopy Holidays everyone!
